Dan Costello is a man of many hats - actor, musician, writer, director, educator, and more. As an AEA actor, he has appeared on stages from Florida to Brooklyn to his hometown of Albany, NY.
As a musician, Dan has released 13 albums including two albums of children’s music. He has toured to 22 countries on self-booked and promoted DIY tours, and with indie-rock bands. He plays many instruments and has been a Music Teacher, Music Director, Vocal Coach, and Arranger.
As a writer and composer, Dan was the recipient of a 2024 NYSCA Grant and a Sable Arts Residency to write his first musical, “ICU,” which culminated in a staged reading at Fort Salem. His children’s theater piece “The Forest of Feelings” has played to thousands of children and families across NYC in collaboration with New York City Children’s Theater. He is currently revising “ICU” and writing a new one-man show.
He is the Creative Director of Yo Re Mi, a musical yoga program for children. His face and songs appear on smartboard and laptops around the world every day, with over 6M views on YouTube. In addition to children’s programs, he trains educators in creative curriculum and employing a mindful approach in the classroom.
He loves his family, his (epic) upstate farm life, the dog, the piano, the Brooklyn, the Sondheim. “Take it easy, but take it.” - Woody Guthrie
